How to Play

Cat Invasion plays like a Roblox horde defense with a shop that only works if you pause it. You spawn at a wooden base, waves of meme cats path in, and you spend coins between those waves to stay ahead of the spawn table. The game is released and online: solo invasions and group servers (max 18) are both live. This page is the systems manual. For the first-hour checklist, use Getting Started. For the spend order that actually reaches badges, use the wave 100 guide.

Controls and camera

Movement is standard Roblox: WASD or the on-screen stick on touch, jump as usual, camera on mouse or drag. Attack is click or tap. You do not need a custom keybind overlay to survive. What you do need is a camera that can see both the gate and the lane. If you stare at your avatar’s feet, cats clip the wood before you swing.

Range play wants distance. After you leave melee, stand far enough that area shots cover the spawn without you standing inside the pack. Melee play wants the opposite: you are the wall. Switch stances when you switch weapons. The wave 100 route assumes you will not hug the gate once snowballs become rocks.

Pause shopping

You can pause waves to upgrade. That is the core mechanical trick. Unpause only when the buy is done. New players die with full wallets because they shop while cats are already on the boards. Pause, spend, unpause.

The pause menu is where coins turn into power:

  • Weapons: melee (sword, pillow, baguette, tuna) and range (snowball that upgrades toward rock, bow, laser cannon).
  • Armor: leather, chain mail around 500 coins, knight around 1,000, brick wall around 1,750, expensive armor around 3,000 at the wave 50 boss. Plasma Armor is a 79 Robux gamepass.
  • Walls and builders, which repair and thicken the wooden base.
  • Turrets, which add automatic chip damage.
  • Food: fish, tuna, hearts.
  • Merchant stock: coin-boost potions and damage potions.

If two upgrades are affordable and one is a coin boost, the coin boost wins. Every later pause shop gets cheaper in time even if it costs coins now.

Aim assist

Aim assist exists and is worth turning on, especially in solo range. Cats do not walk in a straight tutorial line forever. Assist helps snowballs, rocks, bows, and later lasers connect while you also watch walls. It is not a substitute for positioning. If you stand on the spawn, assist will still let cats body-check you.

Group play can get noisier: 18 avatars, overlapping projectiles, someone already in melee. Assist still helps you tag the cat that slipped behind the turret line. If you prefer raw mouse aim, you can turn it off, but the clear-speed tutorials that push wave 100 keep it on.

Coins versus Gold

Coins are the invasion wallet. They drop from kills and exist only inside the current run. Gold is the account wallet. Codes, events such as Golden Weekend, shop products, and some rewards pay Gold. You redeem codes in the lobby with the Codes button on the right; the live pair in September 2026 is 19MVISITS and 900KMEMBERS for 250 Gold each. Details sit on Gold Farming and the codes hub.

Do not mix the two currencies in your head. A pause shop that spends coins on range does not spend Gold. A lobby purchase that spends Gold does not repair the wall in the run you are already in. Perks, daily rewards, classes, and the AFK zone are Gold/meta systems. Weapons, armor, walls, turrets, food, and merchant potions are coin systems.

Base defense

The fail state is the wooden base, not a hidden lives counter. Cats that reach the wood deal structural damage. Walls buy hit points. Builders spend coins to keep those walls standing. Turrets cover angles you cannot stare at while kiting Floppa. Food restores you after a bad melee trade so you can get back on the lane.

Green crates can appear during a run. Loot them when the wave is paused or the lane is empty. Walking off the gate for a crate while a boss laser is charging is how named-cat wipes start. Daily rewards and perks help the next lobby; they do not patch a hole you ignored for ten waves.

Hold the gate, then spend. If the wood is healthy and coins are piling up, you are playing correctly even if your melee skin still looks silly. If the wood is chip damage city and you have a maxed pillow, you inverted the shop.

Classes during a run

Class select happens around the lobby, not in the pause shop. Medic revives teammates, which is the group button. Ninja is a grind unlock. Alchemist is the day-7 daily reward. There is no fourth named class on this wiki. Read How to Unlock Classes and the players hub before you treat a class as a combat stat. A Medic who never pauses still loses the base. A Ninja with no range still meets Floppa unprepared.

Common mistakes with pause and aim assist

The mistakes that look like “the game is hard” are usually shop mistakes. People forget to pause, so they buy leather while cats chew the gate. People turn aim assist off and then blame snowballs. People spend the first 500 coins on turrets and arrive at wave 50 with no armor and no range. People eat every fish the second it appears and then have no hearts for the boss laser.

Fix those before you chase badges. Pause every shop. Leave aim assist on until range feels automatic. Follow the melee-to-200-then-range order from Getting Started. Buy merchant coin boosts on sight. Keep a damage potion for the first named cat. If a group will not pause, run solo until the systems are muscle memory. Once pause, assist, coins, Gold, and the wooden base are clear, the rest of the wiki is just loadouts: Gold, wave 100, Floppa, and the later bosses. Check updates after events so you are not farming through a Golden Weekend without noticing.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for codes, waves, classes, and bosses.

How do I pause waves in Cat Invasion?

Use the in-run pause to freeze the invasion, open the shop, spend coins, then unpause. Do not shop while cats are already on the wooden base.

Should I use aim assist?

Yes for most players, especially solo range. Clear-speed tutorials that push wave 100 leave aim assist on so snowballs and later shots track moving cats.

Do coins carry over between runs?

No. Coins are in-run only. Gold is the persistent currency. Redeem codes and farm Gold as explained in Gold Farming.

What am I actually defending?

The wooden base. Walls, builders, and turrets exist to keep meme cats off that wood. Your avatar dying is recoverable; the base going down ends the invasion.

Where do I learn the first-hour spend order?

Follow Getting Started for the melee-to-range swap, then the wave 100 guide for the same order stretched to Floppa and the 100 badge.

Can I play Cat Invasion solo and with a group?

Yes. You can play solo or with an online group. Servers hold up to 18 players.
