Cat Invasion Weapons and Upgrades
Melee opens the run. Range, pauses, and the merchant carry you past Floppa.
Weapons in Cat Invasion are an in-run coin tree. You do not bring a finished loadout out of the lobby the way you bring a class. You start cheap, you pause between waves, and you buy the next row before the cats outscale you. This page is the tree. The weapon tier list is the letter. The upgrade planner is the checklist you can tick while the wave is paused.
Gold does not buy these upgrades. Robux does not buy them either, except indirectly through Double Coins. If you are broke on coins, you need a longer wave, a merchant boost, or the Double Coins pass, not a new class name.
Melee tree
Documented melee options are sword, pillow, baguette, and tuna. They exist to delete the first packs while you are still standing on the wooden base learning where cats climb. They are also the clips people post because a baguette is funnier than a snowball.
Use melee until you can afford the first real range buy. Public solo routes cite roughly 200 coins as the first pause. That number is a tutorial habit, not a law, but the habit is right: get off melee before the packs thicken.
If you like melee, keep a backup for cats that reach the door. Do not keep feeding the melee row after the merchant has shown a coin boost and snowball is available. Late melee is how you stand in Floppa lasers.
Range tree
Documented range options are snowball (the line that upgrades toward rock), bow, and laser cannon. Solo high-wave meta is this tree after the early melee dump. Range lets you hold distance, splash packs, and stop eating every leap.
Snowball is the first range identity most tutorials buy. Upgrade it. A level-1 snowball you ignore while you shop tuna is not a range build. Bow and laser cannon are later steps on the same idea: delete cats before they touch the wall.
Laser cannon also shows up as a placed piece in public clips. Place it where it covers a climb path, then go back to spending coins on the range row. A cannon you set and forget without upgrades is scenery.
Pause-to-upgrade
Between waves you can pause and spend. That is the whole skill. Players who fight through the shop menu while cats are spawning buy the wrong thing or buy nothing.
A clean pause:
- Confirm the pack is dead and the wave counter moved.
- Pause.
- Buy coin boost from the merchant if it is sitting there.
- Buy the next range upgrade if you are past the melee opener.
- Buy armor if you are approaching a named boss, especially wave 50.
- Unpause only when the next 20 seconds have a plan.
If you are in a group, one person should call the pause so six people are not in menus while a climber eats the wall. Medic can revive a down; Medic cannot revive a base that died during shopping.
The merchant
The merchant is why coin boost is mentioned in every serious spend order. When a coin boost is for sale, buy it. Coins are the only way to climb the range tree. Skipping the boost to look at a funnier melee skin is the most expensive joke in the run.
Merchant stock is not a second weapon tree. Do not wait twenty waves for a perfect shop if snowball is already available from the normal upgrade path. Use the merchant to multiply, then return to the upgrade planner.
Armor is part of the same coin pile
You will want to spend every coin on weapons. Do not. Public armor costs people actually use:
- Leather as the first body buy
- Chain mail around 500
- Knight around 1000
- Brick wall around 1750
- About 3000 armor at wave 50
Floppa is the first named boss, around wave 50, with lasers. Range without that armor buy is how you dodge well and still die. Plasma Armor is a 79 Robux convenience on the gamepasses page; it does not make the coin armor row useless.
Walls and turrets are the other coin sinks. Late waves are a turret problem as much as a gun problem. The +3 Turret Limit pass only matters after you already place the turrets you have.
Solo versus group spend
Solo: melee opener, snowball, coin boost, range, armor before Floppa, then keep range. Distance and aim assist show up in the same tutorials for a reason.
Group: the same tree, plus permission to be slightly greedier if a Medic is online. You still cannot skip armor. You can skip being the sixth baguette.
Class letters live on the class tier list. They do not rewrite this page. Ninja comments that reach high waves sit next to range, not next to tuna forever.
A run you can copy tonight
- Redeem codes so Gold is not on your mind.
- Equip Medic, Ninja, Alchemist, or the default combat role using the classes page.
- Enter Invasion. Melee the first packs.
- Pause near 200 coins. Buy snowball.
- Pause again for merchant coin boost and the next range bump (tutorials cite 250 then 550 as later piles).
- Before wave 50, find the 3000-armor buy. Dodge Floppa; do not tank lasers on purpose.
- After Floppa, keep range and turrets. Melee is a door stick.
If you die, ask which row you skipped. Most deaths before 25 are no pause. Most deaths at 50 are no armor or no distance. Most deaths after that are no turrets or no revive. The weapon tree only owns the first two.
Keep the merchant, the pause, and the next 50 coins in the same mental slot. That is the whole upgrade skill. The funny melee names are there so the early game is readable. The rock-line snowball is there so the late game is possible. Spend in that order and the weapon tier list will finally match the run you actually played.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers for codes, waves, classes, and bosses.
Should I use melee or range in Cat Invasion?
Melee first, range for the rest of a high-wave run. Solo meta is snowball toward rock after the early coins. Letters are on the weapon tier list.
How do weapon upgrades work?
Pause between waves and spend coins. Use the upgrade planner so you buy range and coin boosts instead of shopping during a spawn.
What does the merchant sell that matters?
Coin boost, when it appears. Buy it. It funds later range and armor. Skipping it for tuna is a stall.
When do I buy armor?
On the coin breakpoints: chain mail around 500, knight around 1000, brick wall around 1750, about 3000 at wave 50 for Floppa.
Do classes start with better weapons?
Not in a way that replaces this tree. Classes change role. Coins still buy the upgrades.
Is laser cannon better than snowball?
It is a later range piece, not a wave-1 buy. Upgrade snowball first, then add bow or laser cannon once the coin pile exists.
